A: Because if a panda, a fictional character and Alaska's former governor can have a blog, who am I not to? As an American, I have the right, nay, the responsibility to flood the internet with my half-baked opinions, poorly thought out talking points, and videos of baby animals being super-cute.
Q: Why do you call your blog "Life Delights in Life"?
A: I delight in life. I also hate life, or at least the indignities and heartbreak one must put up with in order to live it. I plan to write about both the delightful and the disappointing. You know, life.
Q: Isn't it true that your dog had a Facebook page before you did?
A: Yes, that's true. But, in fairness to myself, my brothers maintained it while the dog only dictated the content. It's also true that she still receives event invitations and friend requests more than three years after her death. Bari was easygoing and gregarious. Everyone who met her liked her immediately. I learned something about dealing with people from my dog: listen carefully, be loyal, and be wary of strangers encroaching upon your territory. Bari was wise beyond her years, perhaps wise beyond her species. We really lucked out when we adopted her from the McAllen, Texas Humane Society in 1991.
Q: Do you consider yourself to be lucky? A: Yes and no. My mom says you make your own luck. But is luck something you can make? Luck, when it exists at all, is ephemeral, fleeting and fickle. I am neither lucky nor unlucky. The luckiest thing that ever happened to me was winning life's great lottery by being born in the first place. Add to that the fact that I was born in the US late in the 20th century, and one could say I used up all my luck just getting here. As circumstance would have it, I was fortunate enough to be raised by parents who loved me and placed a high premium on integrity and free will. They taught me to own my choices. I do. Q: Why read your sanctimonious, pseudo-intellectual thoughts instead of those of a cute and fuzzy Chinese panda?
A: Because I... eh, well, I guess you've got me there. Touche. Where did you say I can find Ling-Ling's blog?
